State-Specific Rules
Standard Lotto America rules apply in North Dakota. You must select five main numbers from 1 to 52 and a Star Ball between 1 and 10, then you can opt to add the All Star Bonus to your ticket for an extra $1. The following conditions are also specific to playing in the Peace Garden State.
- The minimum age to play is 18 years old.
- You must purchase your ticket before 20:58 CT on Wednesdays and Saturdays, just over an hour before the drawing.
- You can enter up to nine consecutive draws on a ‘multiple draw ticket’.
- State tax of 2.9 percent is withheld on any prize of more than $5,000, along with 24 percent for federal tax.
Pick & Click
As well as being able to play for nine consecutive draws in-store, you can also sign up online for the Pick & Click service. When you subscribe to Pick & Click, you can enter consecutive Lotto America draws for up to a year. You can choose your own numbers or select a Quick Pick entry, and you will never miss a draw.
To subscribe, you will need to provide your Social Security Number to prove that you are at least 18 years old and a resident of North Dakota. You must have a land-based internet connection to pass geo-location requirements and will be permitted to spend up to $999.99 per 24 hours, or $1,999.99 per week.
How to Claim
You must claim any prize you win in North Dakota within 180 days of the draw taking place. If you win up to $599, you can collect your money by presenting your ticket to any licensed retailer. For prizes of $600 and above, you can either submit a claim by mail or at the North Dakota Lottery’s head office. The address of the head office is as follows:

You can also claim prizes by mailing in your winning ticket, along with a completed claim form, to the North Dakota Lottery, PO Box 204, Bismarck, ND 58502-0204. You will need to provide a copy of your ID and are advised to use registered mail.
Claiming as a lottery pool – If you play in a group and win a prize, everyone in the lottery pool must complete a special claim form for shared prizes. You must all provide a valid form of government-issued ID.
Lotto America in North Dakota
North Dakota is one of the few states where you are allowed to remain anonymous when you win the lottery. For every $1 spent on games such as Lotto America, $0.51 pays for prizes, while $0.22 is transferred to the state’s General Fund to boost vital public services, such as in the health and education sectors. The multi-jurisdictional Drug Task Force Grand Fund receives $0.02, while the Compulsive Gambling Prevention and Treatment Fund gets $0.01. The rest of the revenue is split between contracted services, retailer commissions and other administrative costs.
